Why donate to a local charity?

By donating to a local charity such as Supportability, you are making a difference to the lives of people in Stockport and the surrounding community.

The support we provide to people with disabilities and their carers are thanks to the generosity of donors like you.  What we are able to offer can be a lifeline that enables the people we support to engage in activities for health, well-being and social connection. We also give carers an opportunity to recharge their batteries, and have a break from their caring responsibilities.

You could be contributing towards equipment, such as adapted bikes at our Wheelers accessible cycle sessions in Woodbank Park, allotment fees, part funding and/or running a minibus or days out. Every penny makes a difference to the lives of the people we support and their family carers.

What can my donation pay for?

Ensuring that we have the funds available to help pay for these items or activities means that we are in a better position to be able to provide the best experiences we can for disabled children, young people and adults with learning disabilities.

£16 a year pays for our annual allotment fees and allows the people we support to grow, cook and eat fruit and vegetables allowing them to try new tastes and textures while learning about keeping healthy.

£2,160 pays for movement sessions that allows people the freedom to express themselves through dance and exercise with their friends.

£21,084 pays for our accessible cycling service Wheelers to run for a year. Our adapted bikes allow everyone the chance to experience the wind in their hair as they cycle round the track.

If you don’t have the means to donate, you can give the gift of time instead. From cheering on a marathon runner to helping our fundraising team at a local event, any time and support you can provide will be truly appreciated. It doesn’t matter if it’s only a few hours – each and every hour is equally valued. Find out more about volunteering.
