New skills, new abilities
At Stockport CP we are able to offer a range of opportunities to help you develop new skills, or improve existing ones.
We can support you to develop self-help skills so that you can contribute more to your day-to-day living. We can help with everything from improving your cooking or shopping skills to your ability to look after your money.
We have a range of modern computer equipment and software to help you get the most out of today’s technologies.
We know how important it is for people to communicate so we will work with you to improve your communication skills, and in turn will improvehow we communicate with you!
We could provide support staff to help you to attend further education or prepare for work.
We have started a number of social enterprises, to help people develop work based skills, you may be able to help make one of our social enterprises a success – and learn valuable new skills at the same time.
New people, new friends
At Stockport CP you will have lots of opportunities to meet new people and make new friends.
Our day centres are a great place to start; taking part in organised group activities and classes.
We arrange a number of groups and activities in the community that you could join, such as our organised walking/ hiking groups.
We are passionate about enabling people to take part in sporting activities. Taking part in a team sport is a great way for team mates to turn into ‘great mates’.
Our social enterprises also provide opportunities to make new friends and to learn to work together as part of a team.
Keeping well, staying healthy
Whatever your ability, it is really important to keep well and healthy. So we put on a number of weekly group activities to help you do this, including walking or hiking groups to enjoy the outdoors.
We can provide you with opportunities to use adapted bicycles (Stockport CP Wheelers) or to take part in more adventurous activities such as archery, climbing and skiing groups.
We run a number of relaxation, massage and gentle yoga groups to help you relax and manage your stress.
In the wider community, we can provide you with support for you to go to your local gym or swimming pool.
New experiences, more fun!
We provide some great opportunities to try some new, fun experiences.
If you want to unleash your creativity we have lots of groups you can try. Join our drama group and help put on one of our productions, or learn to play music using our new technologies, or why not take part in our comedy club!
If you want to have fun outdoors you can join our gardening group, help tend our vegetable plot / or even look after some of our animals.
Take part in new sensory experiences – music, cooking and massage all provide new stimulation to the senses!
We can also provide one to one support for you to do something totally new, perhaps visit new places in your local community – (we may need to assess the risks, but will aim to work out a way that is safe for everyone).
Living life more independently
If you want to live more independently, we can provide support around housing, employment, accessing leisure and other mainstream services which can make a big difference to your ability to lead a full life.
We can provide you with a support team enabling you to live in your own home – whether you live with your family / friends or in your own flat or house. This could be for few hours per week – or help throughout the day and night.

Monday Stepping Out Group, 10:00am to 4:00pm
A friendly adult group undertaking a wide range of physical and social activities. This is a home pick up and drop off service. Activities are listed in the timetable, and each session involves additional minor activities such as short walks and coffee stops, depending on the venue and time available. Pick ups from 9, last drop off at 4.

Tuesday Accessible Walking and Activity Group, 10:00 am to 3:00pm
An all-abilities walking and activity group, who enjoy a leisurely stroll around parks and gardens in the area and visit museums, galleries and take part in activities chosen by the group. Typically, this would be a half day of walking and a half day of a gentle activity.

Wednesday Stepping Out Group, 10:00am to 4:00pm
A relaxed social group undertaking a wide range of activities. This is a home pick up and drop off service. Visits to parks, gardens, art galleries and museums are some of the activities we enjoy together. Each session involves additional minor activities such as short walks and coffee stops, depending on the venue and time available. Pick ups from 9.

A varied timetable of adventurous activities and outdoor pursuits for young adults. Drop off from 5:50 pm

This is a lively weekly group with a varied timetable of adventurous activities and outdoor pursuits for young adults, such as archery, indoor climbing, snow tubing, shooting and swimming.

Friday Stepping Out Group, 9:55am to 4:00 pm
A weekly walking and activity group. A varied timetable of medium level walks, cycling sessions and day trips.

FULL DAY SESSIONS
Saturday Social & Activity Group, 9:50 – 4:00pm (fortnightly)
This fortnightly group has been restructured to fit in with the requirements of the service users. The morning will feature a varied social/physical activity which will be chosen by the group. This could be anything from a trip to the airport, a morning in Manchester, bowling, a walk, climbing session – whatever suits the group. The afternoon will be an outdoor activity
The sessions currently run on a week one / week two alternating basis. Below are the timetables for each week.

Sunday Walking Group, 10:30am to 1:30pm (fortnightly)
There is an optional home pick up with this service – the drop off is in central Stockport after the walk. The walks are gentle low level routes suitable for those with limited mobility. Meet at 10:25 – transport will leave promptly at 10:30.
